The Cooler Earth 2022 summit starts today! The Summit, organised by #cimb with WWF and #impacto as knowledge partners, will be held from 20 – 24 September 2022 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel KL. In his Welcome note, CIMB’s Group CEO, Dato’ Abdul Rahman Ahmad, stated that this year’s Summit is focused on Facilitating a Just Transition, which reflects the critical importance of balancing the acceleration of global action on climate post COP-26, while making climate solutions and social and economic development blueprints more inclusive, equitable and just.
HRH Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, Sultan of Perak, delivered his Royal address and stressed that we must adjust the mechanisms of our growth trajectory to ensure that it respects the limitations imposed by our planetary boundaries. Growth should be regenerative, rather than destructive.
According to YB Senator Datuk Seri Utama Tg. Zafrul Aziz, Minister of Finance, the Government sees the private sector and businesses as partners in ESG leadership, whether it’s adapting to climate change, addressing social inequalities, or conserving our natural environment.
The current crisis teaches us all a lesson in resilience: when faced with adversity, we must be prepared, stay ahead of issues, and act decisively to protect our people and economy, and a just transition is no exception.
