That Ever, Ever Delightful Little Girl Writes Again!

I don’t know if you remember a series of emails I posted last year, from this ever-so-delightful little (then) 12 year-old Andrea, who says I’m her favourite author and she has read every single one of my books.

Well, what do you know? Andrea writes again, and isn’t it just so coincidental that little Andrea just rescued a neighbourhood dog!!

Really?

Yes, really!

Here…read all about it (I promise you it will put a smile on your face):

Hello again:P
Guess what?! Remember how I was so close to getting a dog then the girl took it back? It happened AGAIN!! The other day, I saw this golden retriever walking along the road. It didn’t have a collar. So I went up to it to see if it was ok. It was really friendly and sniffed happily. After a while, it ran off and there was a car coming in the other direction. I got scared and started to run after it. I dunno, but I knew that goldens, not being your usual stray dog, weren’t street wise at all. So I rushed into the house, grabbed my school tie, which was the closest thing to the door, unchained my bike and sped after it. Boy could it run fast. There were several close encounters and every time, it would miss the moving tyres by inches. Finally I managed to catch up with it and tie my tie ( loosely) around it’s neck. I lead it all the way to our house and made a bed of blankets on the porch floor ( which mum wouldn’t be pleased with at all, but she was out so she couldn’t stop me ) so it could rest from running all that way. Guess what?! It snuggled up in its new bed comfortably. Just then, an uncle walking his dog passed by. He asked me about the dog as he knew I didn’t have one. So I told him the story and he said that I was right in doing what I did cause it would have been horrible if the poor dog got hit by a car. Then he told me that it was hungry. So I rushed off on my bike once more to a little row of shops just outside our area. There was a pet shop there and I went in to see what dog food they had. I had to use all my allowance to but a small bag of dry food which had a mix of veggie, chicken, and calcium. Boy is dog food EXPENSIVE. Great that was all my money gone, but it was for an EXTREMELY important cause. I cycled back as fast as I could and when I reached home, my temporary doggie greeted me with a wet, sloppy kiss:) I quickly got two bowls out and filled one with fresh, filtered water, and another with the dawgie food. Then, I took it out and placed it in front of him. He tucked in happily. After a few moments, it was all gone. Even the water. I got really excited for some reason and I quickly wheeled my grandma outside to have a look. She was really happy to see him:)) She petted him and stroked him. I waited for mum to come home. When she saw a dog in the porch she freaked. Not in anger ( as I expected her to) but in pure adoration for our temporary four legged friend. She got down on her knees and the dog plodded over to say hello. She greeted him with a big hug. He seemed to be enjoying all the attention. Mum was a little annoyed at all the blankets on the floor but she soon got over it:P Our housing area has a website so my dad posted the case of the missing golden retriever. Then mum said something unexpected. She said I could keep the dog if no one came back for it, provided that I took care of it properly. I was so happy. Finally. A dog. IF NO ONE CAME BACK FOR IT. That night as I came outside to put a fresh blanket on his temporary bed, instead of going straight to bed, it came over and snuggled up to me for a long while. Awww…. too bad, the next day the owner came for it. But the owner happened to live on the next street and so I could go and say hello whenever I wanted to. I was heart broken, but oh well. Maybe next time?
From,
Andrea
P.S
I voted for animal care >.<
Isn’t she delightful? I replied and told her all about MY adventure with Heidi the Minpin! And of course I thanked her for voting for AnimalCare. Her teacher had told her and her classmates all about it!
