Another piece of sad news, received this morning, from Shalyn:
Kit’s gone.
She suddenly had problems breathing just around midnight, progressing from wheezing to gasping to barely breathing. At around 2.15am she just passed away.
I wish I could have done better for her.
Thanks for all your help and support and advise. I wish you had a chance to meet her. Kit had a way of getting to you with her feisty nature, and after only a week caring for Kit, I’m going to miss her.

We are so sorry to hear this. Shalyn is a first-time rescuer, and we know she did her very best for Kit. She brought Kit to the vet’s the very next day after rescue, she communicated with me frequently on how best to care for Kit. From the video, Kit was indeed a very feisty and happy kitty.
Kit was diagnosed as having a “neural infection” and the vet had advised Shalyn to have Kit euthanised should she not respond to the medication. But Kit responded and was eating well.
Maybe Kit’s lifetime as a kitten is meant to be this short. Maybe she came for a purpose and now that purpose has been fulfilled.
Shalyn is a young leader in the Buddhist youth group, so here’s my mail to her:
Dear Shalyn,
I’m so sorry to hear this. But you know how Nature has its way of taking care of all of us and ensuring “the best” for us, even though it might not seem that way from how we see it now.
The Law of Karma governs us, and we have to just trust everything happens for a reason. Our duty is to do our very best, this, I believe you have done for Kit.
Kit came to give you an opportunity to learn a new skill, do a noble deed, and maybe, even to fulfil a karmic debt. You heeded the call, you took care of her despite not having any experience. You did your best, and now the karmic debt is paid, and she’s on her way to a better place, a new rebirth, and your link with her continues, but on a much happier note.
Take comfort in knowing you had done your very best for Kit, and Kit knows it. Animals have a sixth sense that far surpasses what we know.
Kit was very lucky to have found you, and you are lucky too, to have had the opportunity to look after her.
Take care and be comforted in that.
Do write, if it helps.
Kind regards,
kahyein
This is life, folks. We come here to do our best to help others. I have learnt that there is no point asking “why” questions because sometimes there are simply no answers. So, just DO. Do our best, with our best intentions, to help others and to bring them cheer and better wellbeing, and when our time comes to go, we go with a happy heart.
That’s what this life is all about, to me.
