Malaysias Freshwater Supply Comes Primarily From R..

Malaysia’s freshwater supply comes primarily from rivers; healthy rivers underpin the country’s socio-economic growth. Even so, our rivers are becoming more and more polluted. 😢

WWF-Malaysia recognises the importance of strengthening the control on pollution loading into rivers as a strategy to maintain good river water quality. Hence, a pilot study aimed at setting water quality targets in line with water quality preservation and pollution load control management was done in 2019 with the support of the Royal Bank of Canada. The study which will be officially published next year was conducted with renowned water quality specialist, Ir. Dr. Zaki Zainudin, and had generated findings that are useful as references for various parties.

All of us have an obligation to take care of our water resources and rivers, whether we are in the community, an NGO, an academic institution, a business or government. Collectively, we can play our part by not polluting our precious rivers, being mindful of the state of nearby rivers and reporting any suspicious activities to relevant authorities. 🙌
