Wwf-Malaysia Has Successfully Organised Its First-..

WWF-Malaysia has successfully organised its first-ever Stay@Home Recycling Challenge from 19-24 August 2021, in partnership with Alam Flora Sdn Bhd and supported by H&M to promote sustainable water resource management through waste footprint reduction.

Here’s a recap of the interesting activities that were lined up during the Stay@Home Recycling Challenge:

📍 In the panel discussion session titled ‘Waste Matters’, three esteemed panellists from Perbadanan Pengurusan Sisa Pepejal dan Pembersihan Awam – SWCorp , Alam Flora Sdn Bhd and Kloth Lifestyle shared important insights about why solid waste, fabric waste and food waste matters, as well as what actions we can do together and individually to tackle the waste issues.

📍 In the webinar, our prominent speaker from @Impactlution discussed the issues around plastic waste and shared one of the ways to utilise used plastic bottles by making eco-bricks that are creative yet functional structures.

📍 During the soap making workshop, WWF-Malaysia gave a short talk on the impacts of fats, oils and grease (FOG) on our water resources, followed by a hands-on demonstration on recycling used cooking oil into soap bars by @SoapOperaKL

📍 For the contest, participants compete based on their daily efforts to segregate waste and apply the 7Rs (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Recover/Repurpose, Recycle and Rot) as well as other creative practices in handling waste at home which they recorded over a 5-day duration.

If you had missed these interesting activities, worry not! You can re-watch the recorded live panel discussion and webinar on our Facebook page and get inspired by the great sharing of knowledge and ideas in the sessions.

It is our hope that through this Stay@Home Recycling Challenge, all of us would rethink our waste footprint and take action to manage waste responsibly. Let’s be mindful that our collective positive actions matter to help stop waste from contaminating our environment and water resources.
