While, pet dogs everywhere should be getting an extra hug or two or five today, as their owners celebrate #hugyourdogday 🤗 don’t forget the dogs in rescue shelters, who will not get a hug today. Or tomorrow.

A shelter is not a home. It is only a temporary refuge until they can find a home of their own and even though we make sure they have the best life possible within a shelter environment, for our dogs who are available for adoption, it will nowhere be near as what it’s like to live in a home.

So, on this day intended to make the dogs in our lives feel extra special, please think about how you could be make the life of a dog in a rescue shelter a little better.
