Neutering instead of culling!

Unneutered strays did cause a lot of community disturbance and problems.

Cats in heat vocalize loudly all night long, group dog fight on street for spouses, huge number of strays suddenly gather in residential areas during mating season, male dogs that are not neutered are more aggressive, mother dog become aggressive to protect their children, the population of strays is uncontrolled, and etc.

These are the main reasons why strays were complained to the dog catchers.

What we can do is to spay/neuter strays without stopping every day before these problems occur.

Through neutering, the friction between homeless animals and human can be much reduced when living in the same space together, at the same time increase tolerance of strays presence and of course, their population can be under control.

Every month we trap and sterilize 50 to 80 stray furkids, among of them we try our best to subsidy stray caregivers with financial difficulty. Only when more people get involved, then there will be greater hope.

Homeless & Orphan Pets Exist (H.O.P.E.) is a non-profit organization and no-kill shelter that aims to improve welfare of strays and abandoned pets around Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

Our four core missions are rescuing, re-homing, sterilization and increasing public awareness of pet ownership and responsibilities. Currently, we are caring for approximately 700 abandoned animals in our shelter located at Lima Kedai.
