The Terrapin Nesting Season Is Very Short Compared..
Tweet | ![]() |
The terrapin nesting season is very short compared to the sea turtle nesting season.
It lasts for about 50-60 days, during which the team works hard to secure as many eggs as possible for incubation.
This includes working from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am. Sometimes in the rain. Occasionally bitten by sandflies. Not having a camp bed to sleep in. Patrolling the sand bank in the dark. Deterring poachers.
Every egg is carefully handled from the nesting bank to the hatchery, where they will remain incubated for about 3 months.
This project is made possible by funding from the Asian Species Action Partnership @iucn_asap and the King Baudouin Foundation @king_baudouin_foundation.
