A notice placed at lift lobbies alerted residents to look out for a man who was feeding poisoned “yellowish rice” to pigeons. He was shortly seen collecting their carcasses at Blocks 616 to 620.
Considering the nature of the cruelty case, we advise that residents in the area take precaution as they bring their dogs out for walks, and to keep an eye out for community cats who may have ingested the poisoned rice.
The ACRES investigations team conducted preliminary investigations and identified that the notice was not placed by the Marsiling-Yew Tee town council and the individual in the photos is not related to the town council’s bird management operations.
Please report such suspicious activities to NParks and, if necessary, the police, with pertinent information/evidence. ACRES will continue to appeal to town councils to address the root cause of urban bird population increase, and move away from inhumane culling. Want to learn more about urban bird issues?
