Malaysian city’s commitment to low-carbon future recognised by global sustainability experts. Iskandar Malaysia secured its first-ever historic victory, becoming the national winner of the WWF One Planet City Challenge for the 2023/24 cycle. Ms Rozzana Basri, the Director of Marketing and Communications of WWF-Malaysia, presented the award to Yang Berhormat Dato’ Dr Badrul Hisham bin Kassim, Ketua Eksekutif, Pihak Berkuasa Wilayah Pembangunan Iskandar, in an award ceremony at Johor Bahru on 24 September 2024.

This award recognises cities worldwide for their dedication towards tackling climate change and building a climate-resilient future. This victory is a testament to its unwavering commitment to sustainability, and its continuous efforts to combat climate change should serve as an inspiration for other cities in Malaysia. WWF-Malaysia is proud to have many Malaysian cities joining this initiative and would encourage more cities to join in the next competition cycle.
