Gerald Is Selectively Friendly…

Gerald is about the most friendly cat I’ve ever come across.

But is he friendly to everyone?

Samantha loved him and still does. Misty loves and hero-worships him. Gerald was terrified of Creamy, if you remember.

So does this make him a friendly cat and also a scaredy cat?

The first time I ever saw him was when he mated with Samantha on the road. I straight away picked him up and placed him into a carrier, carted him off to vet’s for castration, along with Creamy.

It was that easy.

Misty still cannot be carried, but can be touched. But she prefers not to be.

So, is Gerald an extremely friendly cat then?

Gerald hates Socks.

Socks is a cat from the Rumah Kucing down the road (I believe Samantha was from there too). She has started coming to our porch to eat leftover food.

She came this evening to eat, and Gerald gave chase. They fought in the middle of the road, and I had to intervene to break up the fight. Socks ran into the drain leading towards her house and Gerald gave chase.

Gerald has always hated Socks since 1.5 years ago.

And yet, Socks is such a lovely little cat.

We will never understand cat dynamics. We can postulate and hypothesise, but we will never really know.
