Today Is Endangered Species Day, A Day To Reflect ..

Today is Endangered Species Day, a day to reflect on the role humans play in causing and preventing extinctions and to encourage actions that help preserve the planet’s biodiversity. Here in Malaysia, we are home to incredible wildlife, but many species, like the Malayan tiger, Bornean orangutan, and Bornean elephant, are endangered and critically endangered, with the Sumatran rhino already locally extinct.

Malayan tiger πŸ…: Less than 150 left due to poaching and habitat loss.

Bornean orangutan 🦧: Threatened by forest fragmentation, and habitat degradation.

Bornean elephant 🐘: Habitat loss from plantations, conflict with humans, road accidents, and poaching.

Green turtle 🐒: Victim of poaching, incidental catch in fishing gears, and habitat loss.

Endangered Species Day is a vital reminder of the urgent need to protect our planet’s most vulnerable creatures. You can help by donating to conservation, raising awareness, adopting eco-friendly practices, volunteering, and advocating for stronger wildlife protection laws.
