10年之前，我们在2013年主办了第一场动保慈善晚宴。

当时也算是少数(不敢说是第一个)的流浪动物收容举办慈善晚宴。

依稀记得当年网络还不发达，在人脉资源有限的情况下去筹备大型活动。

几个义工也真的是头脑烧的去筹备这个千人晚宴。

当然也很幸运的，我们的努力被眷顾了。

第一场慈善晚宴大获好评，这样无疑给了我们一剂强心针。

2023年，也是HOPE创立的第15年。

即便是时间仓促的情况下，义工团队依然用心的在筹备，

然而这次的15周年慈善晚宴，反应不甚理想。

加上晚宴的出席嘉宾和帮忙宣传的嘉宾，也引来了质疑和攻击。

老实说，我们除了无奈还是无奈。

我们无法一一回复所有的舆论

也希望那些质疑者有时间可以到园区参观，来参与做义工更好。

这样也能更了解园区的真实情况。

15年的光阴如梭，大家的努力还是会有人看在眼里。

我们也问心无愧，老天爷也会看见我们的努力与付出。

今年的确挑战重重，整个晚宴的准备时间也只有40几天。

所有义工除了要兼顾自己的生活与工作，还要更近晚宴的进度

对接所有的单位，还要应付供应商的追债

义工们也已经身心疲惫了

目前距离我们的票务目标还有点距离，期许最后的2周时间可以达标，

让我们的15周年晚宴会更加圆满。

今年这场晚宴可能是最后一场了，毕竟反应不理想，

我们也觉得挺对不起免费帮我们站台的艺人、网红与及我们的长期赞助商。

保护流浪动物这个课题一直都是被忽略的一个社会课题

即便面对无数的谩骂与质疑

HOPE依然坚守岗位15年，保持信念的为流浪动物们争取应该有的权益。

最后也希望我们的大环境会越来越好

各界也会越来越关注流浪动物的课题

10 years passed… This is the first charity dinner we hosted in 2013.

At that time, we were one of the few (dare not say the first) animal shelters to organize a charity dinner for stray animals.

A decade has passed in the blink of an eye, and I vaguely remember that the internet was not as developed back then,

and we had no networking resources to prepare for such a large event. A few volunteers also burned with the idea to organize this thousand-person dinner.

Fortunately, our efforts were rewarded. The first charity dinner received great acclaim, undoubtedly giving us a shot in the arm.

In 2023, it is also the 15th year since the establishment of HOPE.

Our volunteers have put a lot of effort into preparing for this 15th-anniversary charity dinner,

but unfortunately, the response so far has not been ideal.

Furthermore, when we recently announced that a social media influencer would be a guest at our dinner, it has sparked a lot of opinions and even attacks.

Honestly, we are left with no choice but to be helpless.

We cannot respond to every opinion, and we hope that those who doubt us can take the time to visit our sanctuary and participate

in volunteer work to better understand the real situation of the shelter.

In these serious 15 years, we still believe that there are people who appreciate our efforts.

We have a clear conscience, and even if the heavens don’t see, our efforts and contributions will not go unnoticed.

This year has indeed brought many challenges, and the preparation time for the entire dinner is only a little over 40 days.

All volunteers not only have to balance their own lives and work but also keep up with the progress of the dinner,

coordinate with various organizations, and deal with suppliers’ demands for payment.

Volunteers are physically and mentally exhausted.

Currently, we are a bit short of our ticket sales goal, and we hope that in the last two weeks,

everyone can once again lend a helping hand to make our 15th-anniversary dinner a success.

This year’s dinner may be the last one, after all, with an unsatisfactory response,

we feel that it’s not fair to the artists, influencers, and our long-term sponsors who have supported us for free.

The issue of protecting stray animals has always been a social problem that is often overlooked.

Despite facing numerous insults and doubts, HOPE has remained steadfast for 15 years, advocating for the rights that stray animals deserve.

Finally, we hope that our overall environment will get better, and society will pay more attention to the issue of stray animals.

Homeless & Orphan Pets Exist (H.O.P.E.) is a non-profit organization and no-kill shelter that aims to improve welfare of strays and abandoned pets around Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

Our four core missions are rescuing, re-homing, sterilization and increasing public awareness of pet ownership and responsibilities. Currently, we are caring for approximately 700 abandoned animals in our shelter located at Lima Kedai.
