We just received word that our Ronaldo, rescued in 2013 and rehomed in the USA in 2014, has passed away due to kidney disease. He had a wonderful nine years in Chicago with a family that adored him. Ronaldo left for the USA with another one of our rescues Daisy in Feb 2014. Both were middle-aged dogs when rehomed. Daisy also died recently. May their souls rest in peace.
THIS IS RONALDO’S STORY.
Ronaldo belonged to a lonely old man who also had another older dog. The old man lived in a rented room with his dogs and did odd jobs in the nearby food stalls to fend for himself and his pets. Sadly, the old man died and both dogs found themselves destitute and stray. Ronaldo’s older companion managed to take care of himself but Ronaldo ended-up being brutalised by the neighbourhood pack. When the MDDB rescuer found him, he was injured and taking refuge inside the hollow of a tree trunk. When he was brought to the veterinary clinic for treatment, the condition of his puncture wounds were shocking. He underwent treatment and was also treated for blood parasites. He is now fine and shy Ronaldo is ready to move on with his life. The stall owners, with whom the old man’s other dog is, offered to take him back but MDDB believes he would do better in a family environment. Since, it would be difficult to seek a good home for shy Ronaldo in Malaysia, we believe overseas adoption is the only option for him.
