Last month, we ran a short comics competition on Instagram and all four judges unanimously selected this comic by Nur Khairina bt. Khair as the winner 🥰

We loved the storyline; we loved that Khairina involved Grandma in the story; and we loved the conversation between Malik and his Grandma.

This comic is also educational—we learned about the differences between sea turtles and terrestrial tortoises. This comic also demonstrates that development will alter/destroy the natural habitat of our turtles.

And last, but not least, we love the use of an influencer in this comic, and we hope that more young people will be the voices of endangered turtles in Malaysia 🇲🇾

Turtle Conservation Society

The Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia was established in October 2011. The aim of the society is to bring about the recovery of depleted wild populations of turtles, with particular reference to freshwater turtles, in Malaysia through partnerships with like-minded organizations, individuals and local communities as well as through its own programs.
