This week, we will be presenting two giants in the freshwater environment.

First up is the Giant Asian Pond Turtle (Heosemys grandis). Among Malaysia’s largest freshwater turtle species, its brown-black shell has serrated edges at the back with a light brown keel that runs the length of their carapace. Do you know what the carapace on a turtle is? Look it up!

They really love basking in the sun like many other turtles. They survive on a variety of plants, fruits, fish, prawns, crabs, and other small invertebrates. Are you also a non-fussy eater like this Giant Asian Pond Turtle?
