Unfortunately, most of them are threatened with extinction and if we do not do anything about it, our future generations will not have the chance to see them.

But hope isn’t lost for nature. Let’s learn and appreciate our local turtles, and play a part in their conservation. “Tak kenal maka tak cinta, kan?”

Every week in the next 2 months, we will share with you bite-sized information of each of our native turtle species. After 9 weeks, you will graduate and become our “Turtle Ambassador!”

The Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia was established in October 2011. The aim of the society is to bring about the recovery of depleted wild populations of turtles, with particular reference to freshwater turtles, in Malaysia through partnerships with like-minded organizations, individuals and local communities as well as through its own programs.
