Today Is Love Your Pet Day, And This Month Is Spay..

Today is Love Your Pet Day, and this month is Spay and Neuter Awareness Month. How fitting that the two coincide when one of the most loving things we can do for our pets is have them spayed/neutered! 🐕🐈

Spaying/neutering is a simple surgery, but it comes with a wealth of benefits – it helps decrease overpopulation; reduce the risk of certain infections and cancers; and prevent ‘undesirable’ behaviours, such as urine marking, roaming and aggression.

These are greatly beneficial for homeless animals too, and that’s why sterilisation – alongside vaccination – is at the very forefront of our work.

What’s known as TNR in many countries (Trap, Neuter, Return) is known as CNVR (Catch, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return) here at Soi Dog. Your support, coupled with the support of Dogs Trust Worldwide, has seen our CNVR programme grow to become the largest of its kind in the world 🙌

Last month, a total of 17,076 animals passed through the programme, a 25% increase on this time last year. This brings our all-time total to 866,633 and puts us firmly on track for a million sterilisations and vaccinations by the end of the year – testament to your incredible support.

We hope you can see how much love goes into this work from our rescue officers, surgeons and vet nurses ❤️
