Bowfin came to the shelter in May last year at just eight weeks old. She didn’t come alone. In tow were her five siblings.

Unlike many of Thailand’s homeless puppies, they were fortunate enough to have someone looking out for them – a kind local lady who gave them food and clean water. However, one day she fell seriously ill and, without her care, they fell ill too.

Bowfin and her siblings soon became infested with ticks. You can see them in her ear and around her eye in her entry photo. Those ticks led to tick-borne diseases which led to anaemia which led to them all needing urgent blood transfusions. Sadly, one of Bowfin’s sisters was just too weak and didn’t make it.
