Our first raid in the Philippines in partnership with Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF) 🙌

Last week saw the successful raid of a restaurant in the Central Luzon region and the rescue of five dogs – the first of what we intend to be many raids and rescues with AKF.

The restaurant was run by a notorious dog meat butcher in the region who had been under police surveillance in the days leading up to the raid. In his makeshift kitchen, AKF staff and police personnel found two dog carcasses and a further five live dogs tied up in bags, trembling, moments away from slaughter.

While the dogs were given their freedom, the butcher had his rightly taken away. He was arrested, detained and charged under the country’s Animal Welfare Act.

A great outcome – and this is only the beginning.

With your support, we will work to open up dialogue with the leaders of the Philippines to ensure this Act is being enforced so that more raids can be undertaken, more perpetrators brought to justice and more innocent animals rescued.
