Cat Trapped On Roof For 11 Days At Jalan Besar Reappears On The Ground As If Nothing Happened

We’re relieved to share that the cat has safely left the roof yesterday! Most importantly, it is safe and well and we hear that kitty has been mewing many stories of its rooftop adventures to its feeder.
We were first alerted to a cat that had been trapped on the rooftop of Petain Court. Due to lack of direct access to the roof, we reached out to authorities, who were in the midst of coordinating their rescue efforts. The SPCA is a non-profit organisation that handles 7-10 rescues a day. We have to exercise prudence in allocating our very limited resources to rescuing other animals who require immediate medical attention while continuing to liaise with stakeholders involved in this case.
When alerted to the situation again, our Rescue Officer on-ground concluded that a direct rescue would not have been possible due to multiple safety considerations that would have endangered both the cat and rescuer. Instead, we coordinated our resources across NParks, their contractors, and volunteers/feeders who were onsite, and worked together to devise the safest and most effective strategy to help the cat.
While no one can tell how kitty came down in the end for sure, this complex operation was only possible with the support of everyone who contributed in their different ways, especially the feeder and volunteers.
The SPCA will continue to work towards building a safe and compassionate society for our animals. We thank you for the great care you have shown.
On behalf of the people and animals of SPCA,
Aarthi Sankar
Executive Director
A happy ending.
