Turtletuesday Turtle Update In Semporna Priority C..

#TurtleTuesday Turtle Update in Semporna Priority Conservation Area: The nest poaching rate of 1% was recorded, which was below the 2020 nesting season’s poaching rate and baseline. A total of 157 green and 4 hawksbill nests (7,973 eggs) from 8 beaches were safely incubated in the hatcheries as of the 2021 mid-nesting season 🐢 The low poach rate and high hatch rate result in Sabah is due to increased effort in nesting beach patrols and increased skill capacity of the patrollers, such as the Best Hatchery Practices training conducted by the Sabah Wildlife Department. Please support our turtle conservation efforts. Learn more, visit: https://community.wwf.org.my/project/8/updates Thank you.
