Alcander once had an owner who kept her on a chain and then abandoned her. As she grew, the rusting chain started tightening and slowly piercing her neck. Fortunately, her dire situation was eventually reported to us, and she was brought to the shelter where the chain was carefully removed and her wounds cleaned and treated.

After spending so much time alone, never experiencing what it’s like to be loved or cared for, Alcander is understandably independent and likes to take things easy. However, a nice walk, a chin scratch and a handful of treats are good ways to start winning her over.
