Wildlife In Need A Civet A Civet

#SPCASingapore received a call from a worried member of public regarding an injured “cat but not a cat?”. It turned out to be a drenched (from heavy rain) Civet wandering around a Clementi void deck! While the SPCA generally does not handle wildlife, our animal rescue officers provided a helping hand by transporting the Civet to the good people at ACRES: Animal Concerns Research and Education Society (Singapore).
An undeniable reason for wildlife venturing into housing estates is from habitat loss and fragmentation, with wild animals being constantly squeezed out of their homes and being forced to navigate through built up areas. Without adequate measures in place to find alternatives for the animals, they are then left with little choice but to venture into more urbanized areas.
However, please always remember to admire wildlife from afar and with respect. Should you come across one who is obviously in distress or severely injured, you can call the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Hotline at 97837782.
