The vet who attended to Mario sent us this message and more pics. From her pics, there appears to be more than one maggot wound – one on the front limb and one on the neck. His back leg is also injured.

1. Mario is severely dehydrated and a lot of live maggots are crawling all over his body.

2. Mario is anaemic due to chronic infection.

3. She has applied some medicine to kill the maggots and given nexgard as well.

4. She cleaned some of the wounds but stopped as it was too painful for Mario.

5. He will be sedated later today for a thorough wound cleaning to flush out the maggots.

MDDB's main activities revolve around rescuing dogs from the local council pounds as well as off the streets. Once they have been rescued, the dogs are vaccinated and neutered before being put up for adoption.
