APPEAL FOR INFORMATION: TURTLE CARCASS FOUND

On 13th January 2021, ACRES was alerted by a concerned member of public to a video of an animal found wrapped and discarded at Tampines Quarry. Thanks to the poster, who shared with us the details of the location.

The Animal Crime Investigation Unit (ACIU) investigated and found a turtle wrapped with four layers of what seemed like papers and tapes. Based on preliminary investigation the turtle is suspected to be Heosemys species (either a Giant Asian pond turtle or the native spiny hill turtle) and was decomposing badly. Thanks to NParks for picking her up for post-mortem examination.
