I made it a point to drop by Kemaman to see @drpelf81 and to get terrapin-print batik masks from @tcsMalaysia. Dr Pelf is this amazing woman who has dedicated herself to turtle conservation work. Our Malaysian terrapins would thank her for saving them from extinction, that is if they could speak.

And now Pelf has embarked on a project that raises fund for her NGO, but more importantly empowers the Kemaman kampung ladies to earn their own money.

These exclusive masks are hand-printed batik, sewn by the makciks in the village where the conservation work happens. Pelf and her team has gone through the thorough (and laborious) process of communicating with the ladies on the products, ensuring that every product has undergone strict quality control so the mask buyers are happy.

I got some for myself and for my friends as gifts. Comfortable and a great cause! Well, I know how hard Pelf works, it’s crazy.

They now have both 2-ply and 3-ply masks! Get from @tcsmalaysia 🐢❤️

Turtle Conservation Society

The Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia was established in October 2011. The aim of the society is to bring about the recovery of depleted wild populations of turtles, with particular reference to freshwater turtles, in Malaysia through partnerships with like-minded organizations, individuals and local communities as well as through its own programs.
