Four Years Ago, Silk Found Her Perfect Family And ..

Four years ago, Silk found her perfect family and embarked on her greatest journey to the United Kingdom to live out her #furrytailending life. She was one of the survivor of the illegal dog meat trade in Thailand, which has been abolished now. Fortunately, Silk was one of the hundreds of dogs that Soi Dog Foundation was able to rescue and rehome all over the world. We received a special update from Silk’s family which speaks great volume on its own.

“We’ve just celebrated our 4 year anniversary of her being part of the family. We are very excited to be celebrating her 10th birthday later on this year. Silk, also known as Queen Silk, Silkers, Rilkens and Roonstar, is the most amazing soul. She has scars all over her body from bites from other dogs, we assume from being in those tiny dog meat cages. She also has what we think are cigarette burns on her back. Her coat is now so lovely that you can’t really see them anymore, but we know they are there. To be able to trust any human and make friends with any dog after going through all that is a testament to just how amazing she is.

Silk is understandably dog and people reactive, it was difficult at first to understand and help her. With a lot of time learning about her anxieties and understanding positive reward training we have helped her feel safer and happier in her new world. When she’s decided you’re a safe nice person then you’re her friend/tickle supplier for life and there are lots of people who are allowed to come to our house now. She’s got a couple of dog friends too and it’s lovely to watch her play like a puppy.

Silk has hugely impacted our lives, not just our daily routine to make sure she’s happy, but also shaped the way that we think and tackle problems. She’s expanded our minds and inspired us. Adopting Silk hasn’t been easy, but it’s been so worth. We are so in love with her and so grateful that she is with us everyday.”
