CAT’S X-RAY SHOWED INTESTINES IN HER BACK. WHAT??

This female community cat was rescued and brought to SPCA by a kind member of the public. She had been suffering from an abdominal hernia due to a traumatic accident.

The impact was so severe that it caused a rupture in her abdomen. Her small and large intestines broke through THREE abdominal muscle layers on her right side. Yet, she remained remarkably strong — even with carrying her abdominal contents like a backpack as seen in the X-ray!

Such hernias through the side of the abdomen are more common in cats than in dogs and could be caused by motor vehicle accidents; we urge all cat owners to keep their cats safe indoors at all times.

Thankfully, her skin remained intact. Although her organs were shifted, all of them were still viable and just needed to be returned to their correct position. The three muscles were also repaired and the cat recovered from the surgery like a true champion. She was eventually adopted by her rescuer!
