This Old Girl Is Named Tezi. She Was Discovered By..

This old girl is named Tezi. She was discovered by our Community Outreach staff on their daily rounds through the more rural areas of Phuket, suffering with a tormenting skin problem and deep, previously untreated wounds on her trunk and tail.

Tezi, 11, is getting the relief she so desperately needs thanks to the wonderful supporters who make up the Emergency Response Team. Will you please join these compassionate animal lovers now by making a small monthly pledge? To join, go to https://emergency.soidog.org/ert

We don’t know how long this homeless “oldie” – as our vets like to call our older dogs – has been scratching and suffering. We do know it’s only because of you that she could come to us and we could make her feel comfortable and cared about.

When our vet staff examined this girl, they found live maggots in her old wounds. This is a common but terrible problem for homeless animals in tropical areas like ours. Once maggots invade, they devour surrounding tissue, quickly making small wounds grow larger and more painful.

Tezi has been diagnosed with both dermatitis and furunculosis, an infection deep within hair follicles that can lead to abscesses and necrotic tissue. Ticks and fleas were also biting the poor thing, and she has moderate cases of both anaemia and neutropenia. The latter is a condition that makes her likelier to develop an infection.

Fortunately, her maggots have now been conquered and her skin is improving with medication and gentle therapeutic treatments. Tezi’s larger wound will be surgically reconstructed if it doesn’t heal completely enough on its own.

When she gets a bit better, Tezi will receive a spay surgery. For now, our vet staff are soothing her itchy, painful skin and making this scared, nervous girl as comfortable as possible.

Because of you, we can help this lovely old dog. Will you please give now to ensure we can always help senior dogs like her? We know you agree they deserve so much better than the misery of homelessness. Please join the Emergency Response Team now…go to https://emergency.soidog.org/ert.

Thank you for caring about homeless dogs who have no one.
