Did You Know That February Is Spayneuter Awareness..

Did you know that February is ‘Spay/Neuter Awareness Month’?

Soi Dog Foundation’s spay and neuter programme, CNVR (Catch, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return), is at the forefront of its operations and is aiming to reduce the number of animals born into a life of suffering and abuse or neglect, eliminate rabies and stop the spread of other infectious diseases among dogs and cats, benefitting both animal and human communities.

The implementation of the CNVR programme in Phuket, Thailand, has seen the stray dog population reduced by over 90% in 15 years and has been a significant contributory factor in the island reporting only 1 confirmed case of rabies (dog) in 24 years!

Thailand has an estimated street dog population of 8-10 million and we have carried out CNVR programmes in various locations around the country including the capital Bangkok, where there are hundreds of thousands of street dogs roaming the city and greater Bangkok area.

Since 2003, Soi Dog has sterilised over 380,000 dogs and cats throughout Thailand and is now completing over 11,000 procedures every month, 5,000 of those in the capital city, Bangkok.

There are skeptics and there are believers but, we sure hope there are more believers of CNVR out there and you are the latter!
