Ok folks. Time for us to wade into this fracas. Yes, we agree that sometimes there is absolutely no choice. But I will tell you, based on ten years of phone calls, that 99% of those excuses are BS. Yes, the military will work with the community and find temporary placement for your animal. However, I was raised in the military, my husband was military, and we live in a military town. Most overseas bases allow pets. The problem comes when families realize they have to pay for quarantine. Apartment locators and real estate agents in every city/town in the US know who accepts pets in your area. No excuses there. Doggo acting up? Invest in a trainer. Doggo and kids not getting along? The problem may be your kid and not the dog. Ear pulling, tail pulling, chasing, climbing on the dog. All BAD and child should be corrected before every thing does indeed go south. Believe me when I say, we have heard it all. And again, it’s usually a simple fix. If you love your pet enough to invest the time, energy, patience, love, and yes, sometimes money, into that pet/situation then a reasonalbe solution can almost always be found. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR DUMPING YOUR PET AT A KILL SHELTER. NONE. PERIOD.
Here is our latest call. GF doesn’t have time for them plus they just broke up. SIGH
