This is Onsoi, which means “good” in the Murut language. Onsoi is a juvenile male orangutan spotted at Bukit Piton earlier this month.
To see orangutans thriving in what was previously degraded land is a sight to behold. But for the team at WWF-Malaysia, this occurrence is made even more special as Onsoi is resting on a replanted tree, a good sign that the restoration work to improve orangutan habitat at Bukit Piton has achieved its goal.
2 more days! Stay tuned this Friday as we unveil Bukit Piton Forest Reserve after 10 years of hard work – a story of people and the forest.
