Dear Barni,

You’re probably not aware of this, but you’re four days away from going home. And when we mean home, it’s not the home you grew up in, neither is it the halfway house of ACRES you currently reside, where our volunteers and staff had the pleasure of caring for you.

Barni, the home you might remember is one of vast foliage and running streams. Rivers that feel cool on your skin in the morning as you glide through the waters for your favourite fish meal; or warm in the night as you scale the lands for greener pastures.

As we treasure your smile for the next few days, we will keep in mind your past and how far you’ve come since being caught in the illegal pet trade, because only then will we rest when we see the end of animal cruelty.
