“Dia Sudah Mendapat Kasih Sayang”

I would like to share a very simple message here, which I learnt from one of our applicants this evening.
He is not highly schooled, but he rescues and rehomes cats.
He was very sad this evening, because one of his newly rescued kittens just passed away. He had been nursing this kitten when the kitten had diarrhoea and the kitten recovered, but passed on of something else later.
I told him it’s okay, it happens. At least he has tried his very best and that’s all that matters.
And he said: “Ya, dia sudah mendapat kasih sayang” and sent me the photo of the deceased kitten, wrapped in a white cloth, ready for burial. He even made a video of the kitten’s short life. It was very touching.
“Ya, dia sudah mendapat kasih sayang” is a simple, matter-of-fact statement, yet it is so full of wisdom.
I often hear some rescuers lamenting that they are heart-broken when a rescued animal dies, and because of that one incident, they swear they will not rescue anymore.
If you are going to give up because of such disappointments, then who is going to help the next animal?
But here, today, from this rescuer, I hear, “Ya, dia sudah mendapat kasih sayang”, I am SO very, very touched, moved and impressed by his wisdom. He was really sad, but not once did he say that he will not rescue anymore. He just said, “yes, the kitten has received love”.
It is comforting, it is positive, it is wise.
And we will have to move on and help the next animal who needs our help.
Lifespan is not determined by us. Time is relative. We can only help as much as we can and give them love.
They all deserve our “kasih sayang”.
Thank you very much for sharing your wisdom, En Frankie.
