EVER WONDER WHY PYTHONS COME TO URBAN AREAS?
It’s a food galore, of course.
This python was consuming a rock pigeon at Jurong west. To confirm our suspicions, there was bread everywhere given by residents to the pigeons. Human behaviour is what attracts these animals and yet these animals pay the price for following their natural instincts.
Pigeon feeding is an issue island-wide in Singapore where people leave clumps of rice, bread and offerings which is eaten by pigeons and mynahs, increasing their population.
On the other hand, pigeons are poisoned almost everyday in Singapore because of residents’ complaints while steps are taken to control the mynah population as well.
The root cause is improper food waste management and feeding.
If you know of someone who likes to feed these animals, can you tell them that they are leading them to their deaths?
