WWF-Malaysia is horrified and disappointed in the torturous action captured in a recent circulating photo of tourists riding a suspected Hawksbill turtle – a totally protected sea turtle in Sabah.

If the case is identified to be in Sabah, it will breach sections 25(1) and 41 of the Wildlife Conservation Enactment 1997; whereby if found guilty, punishment of imprisonment of not less than 6 months to 5 years and/or a fine of RM50,000 will be enforced.

If you witness something like this, please contact the state’s Wildlife Department immediately. Everyone and anyone holds a responsibility.
