DON’T SHOWER ME WITH WATER. SHOWER ME WITH LOVE!

We are often asked whether a hamster can be bathed using water.

Hamsters have a layer of essential oils on their fur to keep themselves healthy. By giving it a bath using water, the layer of essential oils will be stripped off and the hamster may catch a cold. If necessary, owners may use a warm damp towel to spot clean the hamster, and keep it in a warm area to dry naturally.

It is interesting to note that as hamsters are clean creatures which love to groom themselves, they will enjoy having a dust or sand bath every now and then.
