Python Alert In SS14 Subang Jaya

Note: There are no pictures in this post.
We must apologise for not writing this earlier. I thought that since the news was all over SS14, most residents would have known until I mentioned it to a friend (who resides in SS14) yesterday and she didn’t know about it at all. And she’s a cat feeder too.
So, this news has to be published now, for the benefit of SS14 and perhaps the neighbouring areas as well.
A python was spotted crossing the main road from SS18 to SS14 early morning a few days ago, in front of the SS14 99Speedmart (near the SS18 LRT station). Photographs went viral. Bomba was called but they could not catch the reptile. From the photos, it was estimated to be about 2 metres long. SS14 residents were alerted and advised to check their car engines because reptiles look for warm places to rest.
Yesterday, the python (don’t know if it was the same one) was spotted on SS14/7F trying to swallow a cat. Luckily the cat escaped. Bomba was called but they could not catch it too.
The news is that there were two of them (as they travel in pairs) and one has already been caught.
This news is, of course, scary, but also sad at the same time.
Of course we are relieved that the cat escaped and all pet owners in the area should be on high alert as it is a rather big reptile and small animals are at risk.
We do understand too, that the python has lost its partner now (which is really sad) and that it also has to eat. We hope its partner has been released safely into the jungle.
To all pet owners and feeders in the area, please do the needful and keep your animals safe. Indoors, if possible, and even then, pythons can enter homes as well. In fact, a neighbour in SS18 reported that a python did enter her home sometime ago and that she called Bomba but by the time they arrived, the reptile had disappeared. She thinks it’s probably the same one.
To all humans, enough deforestation, please. Animals need their homes too. This is a shared earth.
