HIGHEST FINE IMPOSED ON AN ACCUSED PERSON FOR COMMITTING ANIMAL CRUELTY AND WELFARE RELATED OFFENCES.
The operator of Top Breed Pet Farm in Pasir Ris Farmway 2 has been handed a record fine of $180,000 and has also been disqualified from carrying out any animal-related businesses for six months.
This is the first time a disqualification order has been issued, after this provision was included in the most recent amendments to the Animals and Birds Act. We applaud this move to prevent other pet business owners from profiteering at the animals’ expense, and thank the AVA and the court for taking strong action against the offender.
