THE CASE OF SEGAR ROAD MONKEY
Thank you to all the individuals who have reached out to us concerning the monkey at Segar Road.
It has been a trying time for everyone involved, especially the individuals who were injured by the monkey, and their families.
We want to reiterate the underlying point; feeding alters a wild animal’s behaviour.
This entire situation could have been avoided if the human food provision was promptly stopped and the monkey was not conditioned to humans, resulting in severe alteration to her behaviour.
As our living space overlaps with wild animals, please practice good wildlife etiquette: do not feed wild animals and always appreciate them from a distance.
Here is a brief update on yesterday evening’s wrap up. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the amazing veterinary team from The Pet Doctors Veterinary Clinic Dr Karthik Raja and Mr Yudy for their help in this case.

SEGAR MONKEY CAUGHT The monkey at Segar Road was successfully caught this evening. It is currently in the care of Wildlife Reserves Singapore and will be subsequently handed over to ACRES: Animal Concerns Research and Education Society (Singapore) for rehabilitation. We would like to thank ACRES: Animal Concerns Research and Education Society (Singapore) and Wildlife Reserves Singapore for their assistance in the operation. We would like to remind everyone that you should not feed the monkeys, as feeding alters their behaviour and causes them to become reliant on humans for food. You can also help to minimise the risk of monkey nuisance by keeping your windows and doors closed as much as possible, keeping food out of sight from the monkeys and practicing good food refuse management, such as double knotting garbage bags and disposing garbage in bins with secured lids.
