More Cloth For Bags And Blankets!

Since I knew I’d be sewing through Chinese New Year, I went to the textile store to see if there was any suitable cloth for sewing bags or blankets.

As it turned out, yes, there were…plenty too!

I matched these two pieces and was thinking of making a “yin yeong” bag, ie. one side is the chequered piece and the other side is the floral one. However, will only sew if there is any order, otherwise, it can be a bit tricky to sell!  If no one orders, I will use it for a normal bag or blanket.

This is a very happy polka dot cloth and I bought 2 m so that I can use it as sashing for the Mickey blanket that I’m sewing (next post). Also bought enough for 2 bags. I only need 0.5 m to sew a bag, so a piece of 1 m cloth (of the standard 45 in width) can sew 2 bags.

This happy polka dot also comes in bright red – would have made a good CNY bag, or maybe Valentine’s?

And this songkety piece is indeed a good buy. It comes in several colours too. The cloth is fairly thick. I thought I’d sew it as a “dark coloured” bag for the earlier order where I had sewn a navy blue and purple ones.  I thought the navy blue was a bit too plain so I may change that for this one.
