ABANDONMENT IS A CRIME

These days, there are a number of avenues to find a home for a pet, if one is unable to care for it due to extenuating circumstances. Abandonment should never be an option. Unfortunately, it seems like this chinchilla�s owner chose just that.

This lovely creature was left in a cage at Block 570 Choa Chu Kang Street 52 late last year. We referred the case to the authorities as there were CCTVs in the vicinity. Investigations are ongoing.

Chinchillas are not easy pets to keep as they have specific housing requirements that some may find challenging to meet. Thankfully, we have found a loving home for the little critter.

Thank you to his new owner for choosing to adopt and to the member of public who alerted us to this case.

Abandonment is a crime. Offenders can be imprisoned for up to 18 months, fined up to $15,000, or both.
