Three Baby Blankets For Fundraising!
I’m in a sewing mood!
Here are three baby blankets I completed today. The backing hasn’t been sewn in yet; that will be done once they are ordered.
The Pooh Bear blanket:
This blanket measures 66 in by 75 in.
Update: SOLD!
The Winnie-the-Pooh cloth is contributed by Ms Ooi. The patchwork sashing is made from or own scraps.
The Giraffe-Hippo blanket:
This blanket measures 56.5 in by 77 in.
Update: SOLD!
The giraffe-hippo cloth is contributed by Ms Ooi. The patchwork sashing cloth is from Chen Chen.
Update: Pooh Bear and Giraffe-Hippo are Lay Chin’s for her kind donation of RM350!
If you like Pooh Bear or Giraffe-Hippo, please write to me at chankahyein@gmail.com for enquiries, we still have quite a bit of the cloth.
The Ducky blanket:
This blanket measures 62 in by 70 in.
The duck-frog-tortoise-bee cloth is contributed by Alicia Chow & Snowy. The matching cloth is from our stash.
Each blanket is offered at RM160 by donation (inclusive of postage to Peninsular Malaysia).
Behind the scenes:
The Winnie-the-Pooh cloth is huge and I think we can make another two more blankets out of it. Since it consists of big motifs, there was no point in cutting it up too much.
So I made two patchwork panels as sashing.
The two panels by the side consist of tiny scraps of remnant cloth which my mum had put together sometime ago.
So as not to waste any of the Pooh Bear cloth, I added back the remnant cloth at the two sides to increase the width.
This is a must-have for Winnie-the-Pooh fans! The cloth is beautiful.
The Giraffe-Hippo cloth is even larger. I think I can make at least 4 blankets out of it!
Since it’s also a big-motif piece, I sewed two panels at the sides, same as the Winnie-the-Pooh blanket.
The two outer panels are made from remnant cloth from the Giraffe-Hippo piece. The maroon-polka dot is from the bottom of the piece and the pink cloth is from the top. Again, every bit of the cloth is used up.
The Ducky cloth consists of duckies, froggies, tortoises and bees. It is SO incredibly cute, especially for babies and the young-at-heart.
I managed to find two pieces of yellow-green matching cloth for it.
There is more Ducky cloth for another piece too.
The backing for each of these blankets will be sewn by my mum using the beige-coloured cloth contributed by Lim Seng Mui.
So, to start off this year, we have a total of five blankets for fundraising. Please do help share the images below with your friends and family.
Thank you very much for your kind support!
