In 2016, the SPCA found loving homes for about 800 animals.
We moved from Mount Vernon to our current premises in late January and opened to the public on 27 January. Lancer, a seven and a half year old dog was the first animal to be adopted by the Ng family, at our new premises.
Four days later on 31 January, Bambino who has been with us since mid-July 2015 was adopted. Bambino was rescued in March 2015 after having fallen from a height which severely injured his jaw. After veterinary care and treatment, Bambino recovered. The ladies who adopted Bambino saw pass his imperfections and were moved by his sweet affection.
Just before Chinese New Year, we announced that our longest staying resident, Ida was adopted. Ida, a Singapura Special who has been with us since February 2008, was found as a neglected and abandoned puppy that was tied to a fence along Lorong Ah Soo.
On 24 July, Dino, whom we took off the streets in 2009 when he was a young puppy, was given a second chance by Mark and Vickie.
Now, we hope that Viking, our next longest staying resident will be adopted soon. Viking and his brother, Widget were found on a farm at Jalan Kayu in 2011, when they were both about three and a half months old. Widget was adopted a year later and Viking has been with us since.
The distinctive trademark of this five and a half year old, male, Singapura Special is his long and loose-hanging tongue. If you have an energy level to match Vikings love for the great outdoors, do pay him a visit at our shelter at 50 Sungei Tengah Road, to get acquainted with our fun loving boy.
Shelter animals make great pets, adopt, don’t buy!
