NATIVE WILDLIFE RESCUE ROUND UP – 29 OCT 2016
Meet Shoo and Boo, the insectivorous bats who got stranded in people’s homes and void deck. Our heartfelt thanks to the concerned public who called us to help them.
Unlike fruit bats, when insectivorous bats get grounded, they cannot take off from the ground.
Often they can also be easily mistaken for baby bats, as some species of adult insectivorous bats are as small as 2-4 inches. When they get grounded, they have to find a tree to climb to a certain height, to get that lift when taking off.
Gladly both Shoo and Boo were released successfully the same night!
