Hope For FIP Cats (and Their Caregivers)

“We found that antiviral treatment led to full recovery of cats when treatment was started at a stage of disease that would be otherwise fatal if left untreated,” the scientists noted..

All of the cats in the study made full recoveries and were back to their old selves within 20 days of receiving the antiviral treatment.

If a cure can be found for FIP, it will be one of the best news for cat caregivers and owners.

The sad part is that they had to induce cats with the disease in the laboratory setting (though all the cats did recover, thankfully).  We truly hope that one day animal testing is no longer required, that it can be replaced with harmless methods like mathematical modelling, computer simulation or cultured tissue.
