Dar Dr. Chan,
I would kindly like to apply for the neutering aid. I have just neutered the second stray in my street.
I live in a neighbourhood where most of my neighbours are tolerating the presence of this pack of 4 strays. Two are female. One of them is the mother of the pack. I managed to catch and spay the mother half years ago. The daughter is very shy and I only managed to catch and spay her now before she goes on her first heat and the pack will get bigger. We bought a cage specially for my cousin to modified to trap her.
The spay was done on the 30th March. As an afterthought, I have requested the vet to do a blood test as well but it was done after the operation. It appeared that she has tick fever. As the spay operation went well, the vet do not think the surgery do not think it has compromised the results and numbers looking at numbers. We caught it early – she is still eating but is usually tired after the operation compared to other dogs. Her surgical wound is recovering well, sleeping a lot but is walking around alert, and eating a lot with big appetite.
Because she is doing so well, and her platelets seemed very low, we decided to do another blood test with proper blood machine that is for dog (2 April; her first test was sent to human lab as per normal practice in Ipoh) hoping that she does not have tick fever and we are ready to release this weekend. It confirmed that she has tick fever (the doctor did a blood smear as well) but her is much higher palette than we initially thought. The vet is confident that she will recover fully after a month of medication with proper care, food and supplements. We had caught it very early.
Due to the tick fever we have to spend extra in the supplements, extra nutritious food, medication and injection for the tick fever. Buying the cage to trap her.
I hope you can help to ease the medical expense for this particular dog by granting me the neutering aid.
She will be released again after she recovers to join her pack again. We have an Aunty that feeds them every evening so that they do not cause an issues looking for food in garbage bins. They stay away from people and are in hiding most of the day, coming out only in the evening to be feed and to guard our street. I wanted to adopt her but she is too attached to her pack. Currently her mom comes over every evening after meal to see her over the back door and at the front door every morning to lick her face. It’s very touching to see that.
Thank you for your kind attention and hope you will be able to consider my case for a subsidy.
Yours Sincerely,
Connie Khoo, IPOH
