MOMMA SQUIRREL COMES BACK FOR HER LOST BABIES

NATIVE WILDLIFE RESCUE ROUND UP: 11 MARCH 2016 – MOMMA SQUIRREL COMES BACK FOR HER LOST BABIES

One night, a concerned gardener called our rescue hotline about 3 baby squirrels found in a fallen nest in a condos garden. We requested him to keep the babies for the night and in the morning, show us exactly where the nest was found. He was kind enough to keep them safe and warm for the night, with minimal handling.

In the morning, when our rescue officers arrived at the spot, we decided to make a makeshift temporary nest to place the babies on a tree and wait patiently. Gladly the babies were still calling and moving. Within 20 minutes, the mother squirrel appeared and was calling excitedly. We were nervous as to whether the mother will relocate them or is this squirrel even the mother? Watch the video to find out what happens next.

If you find an infant mammal or even baby birds or fledglings, please do not bring home immediately. Kindly call our 24-hr wildlife rescue hotline 9783 7782 for advice.

Please remember that a rescue of young animals is meaningful only when reunion with parents is impossible!

Have a pleasant weekend everyone!
