URGENT UPDATE ON RABIES ISSUE

Dear all,

First of all, thank you to everyone who has played their part in helping to tackle the rabies issue. According to the Department of Veterinary Services (“DVS”), the rabies cases are all under control with the last known case of rabies in Malaysia on the 21st of September 2015.

In light of this, we will not be vaccinating our animals at the shelter from rabies. This is also in line with DVS’s advice NOT to vaccinate animals outside of the rabies immune belt of Malaysia.

With regard to the donations collected for vaccinations (as highlighted in our previous post, here: http://on.fb.me/1S5biNh), we will be providing the option to all our donors for a full refund of all monies donated. To all donors, we will be in contact with you within the next week to sort out the details for the refund.

Once again, we would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this cause, and we are deeply sorry for any inconvenience caused.

PAWS

PAWS was founded in 1987 by a small group of local and expatriate volunteers. Through their generosity and imagination, PAWS was constructed on a patch of land owned by Sime Plantations on the Subang Airport Road. This distinct group of sheds and a courtyard still stands today and currently homes around 400 cats and dogs.

The staff that work at PAWS include one veterinary surgeon and a number of full-time personnel. The organisation depends entirely on the generosity of the public through donations or proceeds from charitable events organized and run by volunteers.
